Manny Returns! Ready the Crucifix!

MLB Babble has now moved to the Most Valuable Network. The URL is still the same—http://mlbbabble.com—but I will no longer be posting on this WordPress blog. I have placed this update on all pages in an attempt to redirect visitors to the updated blog. Again, the URL is the same—http://mlbbabble.com. Thanks for reading!

Manny Ramirez made his return last night against the San Diego Padres, going 0-3 with a BB. Not unexpected. We need to give the brilliant artist some time to get back into the swing of things. I mean, it’s not as if he was able to abuse the system and cut his 50 game suspension short by playing in the minors. Yes, he didn’t break any rules (and my qualm with this arrangement is beside the point) but c’mon people: Manny needs to redeem himself in a BIG BIG way.

He took a city that loved him, revered him, deified him, and told it to shove it. His stats were more important to him than his city’s happiness, thus the use of a female fertility drug to birth more home runs. Now, he is outing Juan Pierre, a man who stepped into Manny’s role and delivered more than anyone could have expected.

So, Mr. Manny: You have a lot on your plate. You need to perform better than the average disgustingly paid slugger. You need to put up some astronomical numbers, my man. You betrayed your teammates. You betrayed your organization. And you betrayed the city that was ready to get down on its collective knees and proclaim you Lord Manny. And you threw it all away.

You won’t even talk about your use of PED’s: “First, I want to say that God is good and good is God…” OK. You owe us a little more than that. You owe Mr. Pierre a little more than that. You owe the great Joe Torre a little more than that. Have I driven my point home yet??

Manny, you are scum. Plain and simple. You are a rare gem in the batter’s box but you are sulfuric acid out. You are a cancer. You are not even a horrible teammate, because that implies you are indeed a teammate. You are a one-man circus. You are a narcissistic punk who will never wisen up.

Unless you hit .400 and slug 30 home runs after the All Star break, you will never redeem yourself. You must will your team into the playoffs. That is to say… if it even is your team after all. It sure as hell was last year. But they now have the best record in the Majors without you.

Get your act together. Answer the questions when asked. And for Christ’s sake, stop the ‘Manny being Manny’ act and start begging for forgiveness from Los Angeles. You raped their elation. You owe them your soul.

  1. [...] This is ridiculous. This takes ‘Manny being Manny’ to a new level. Moreover, manager Joe Torre will ration Manny’s playing time. This is sickening. I wrote yesterday about how Manny is a cancer, a scum, a horrible teammate, etc. etc. [...]

  2. [...] I do not see the point in wasting any more words on Manny’s offensive antics. He is what he is. He will do what he does. He will act how he acts. And he will produce on a level that is rivaled only by a select few. [...]
