MLB Babble has now moved to the Most Valuable Network. The URL is still the same—http://mlbbabble.com—but I will no longer be posting on this WordPress blog. I have placed this update on all pages in an attempt to redirect visitors to the updated blog. Again, the URL is the same—http://mlbbabble.com. Thanks for reading!
According to ESPN.com, Cincinnati Reds pitcher Bronson Arroyo said he would not be surprised if he was on the 2003 list of the supposed 103 players who tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs.
Arroyo claims he was using the supplement Andro, which was rumored to be tainted with steroids.
He said: “Before 2004, none of us paid any attention to anything we took… Now they don’t want us to take anything unless it’s approved. But back then, who knows what was in stuff? The FDA wasn’t regulating stuff, not unless it was killing people or people were dying from it.”
Arroyo started taking Andro after the 1998 season when he was a Double A pitcher in the Pirates organization: “Andro made me feel great, I felt like a monster. I felt like I could jump and hit my head on the basketball rim…”
In 2003, Arroyo was a member of the Boston Red Sox, teammates of recently-outed David Ortiz and Manny Ramirez.
